Making comes out of the Maker Movement, a global community of people dedicated to DIY, innovation, and the joy of creating things. Making can be anything you dream up, from cooking to coding! Maker-style Education is learning by doing, in a problem-based format motivated by the child’s own interest and curiosity. It can be used to teach many skills, but most importantly, it teaches how to learn.
When you learn in a Maker style, you learn Resilience, Confidence, Innovation and Creativity. When you make a project hands-on, you quickly learn that “failure” is just information to help you improve your design and try again. And when you succeed in solving the problems that come up in making, you learn you are able to solve all kinds of problems, in your schoolwork and in all areas of life. There is no “right way,” you learn how to invent new ways.
